Tiger Woods and his car crash

Tiger Woods crashed his car on to a water hydrant close to his house. Nobody knows how much of an injury he has suffered. He has not come clean on what really happened. Police has also not been able to interview him. Tiger has gone on record stating that it was entirely his fault and nobody else has to be blamed for the accident.

Now it turns out that there was some rumbling in his house hold with his fidelity being called to question. Now Tiger is earning for privacy which he would not get as public scrutiny and glare is what is guaranteed if one is a celebrity. Being a celebrity comes with a price. Who creates a celebrity? The public. What makes the celebrity pricey? The craze of the public. So it is ridiculous for the celebrity to say that he or she wants privacy.

Now let us look at Indian celebrities. Sachin Tendulkar. Aishwarya Rai. Shahrukh Khan…. We feel that they are infallible and we expect them to have a view on everything under the sun. I find this notion funny. Agreed these celebrities excel in their field of activity but to credit them with wisdom in what ever else they say and do is pretty far fetched. Public also expects them to be loyal to their families and cause forgetting that these are need not be associated with their excellence in their respective fields of activity.

I am not sure just because of Tiger Woods is a celebrity, pubic wants him to be loyal and totally dedicated to his wife. Tiger Woods seems to be a Casanova and seems to be having a gala time. But then one can not hold it against him. Just because he is a champion sportsman does not translate into loyalty and fidelity towards his life partner.

Ian Botham and Shane Warne faced similar situations. Except for their remarkable capability with the willow and the red cherry, they are normal human beings with all the follies and weaknesses.

Bjorn Borg was a champion sportsman but went to dogs after retirement. He just could not do anything meaningful in life. One of close friends had a telling comment to make on Bjorn Borg and sportsmen in general. In the case of Bjorn Borg, he said that if all that a person has done from the age of ten is to hit a ball over a particular height and also ensure that it landed inside a designated area, it would not provide him much skills to face day to day life. This must be true for most of the celebrities too. Sachin Tendulkar has been on the international cricket scene since his teens and to expect him to master anything else in life is too much to ask for.

So let Tiger woods do what he wants to do in his life besides producing champion stuff on the golf courses around the world. Let law takes its own course if he turns out to be a law breaker.

Comments

  1. Tiger's image as a squeaky clean role model is now shattered - so his endorsements will take a beating.

This too will pass, he is too important for golf - so time will heal this after the attorneys go through their thing.
